🔗 Interview
Areumbit Park focuses on the invisible systems and sites of labor obscured behind seamless technological interfaces. Tracing environments governed by automation and algorithms, she explores how these vast technological structures reconfigure individuals’ everyday lives, bodily sensations, and existential conditions.
The departure point of Park’s practice lies in authentic historical records and living human voices. Through multi-layered research—incorporating interviews, oral histories, surveys, and netnography—she gathers personal stories and fragmented archives that are easily erased within large-scale systems.
Rather than simply documenting or reproducing these materials, she weaves them into speculative narratives and fiction. By reconstructing real interviews and oral accounts through an interplay of video, text, publications, objects, and installation, she inhabits the space between factual evidence and narrative. Through this approach, Park reveals the intricate networks between technology, labor, and the human subject, continually questioning the shifting positionality of the human within a highly digitized society.
